March 2010 Edition
Welcome to the first edition of the monthly CeutiCare newsletter. For you who are new to our website let me provide you with a brief history of CeutiCare, and I’ll follow that with a brief news update.
History of CeutiCare
CeutiCare was conceived in late 2007 as a means to roll out a collaborative MTM practice model that was pioneered by my CeutiCare partner and co-founder, Allen Nichol, Pharm.D. In an effort to expand the implementation of the practice model, we set about developing proprietary software consisting of:
- An EMR that:
- was designed by pharmacists FOR pharmacists;
- could function independently;
- could interface with EMRs by national vendors that might be employed by primary care providers.
- A suite of decision support algorithms designed to be used by pharmacists as they plan medication therapies for the patients whose medications they are managing. These algorithms are:
- evidence based
- designed to foster consistent and reproducible decisions about medication selections.
- Algorithms are for: Diabetes, Hyperlipidemia, Hypertension, Asthma and Chronic Kidney Disease. Algorithms are under development for: COPD, Heart Failure and Thrombotic Disorders.
CeutiCare received its first round of venture capital funding in May, 2009 from the Rocket Ventures investment group affiliated with the Regional Growth Partnership in Toledo, Ohio. Since that time CeutiCare hired a President and CEO, Tim Schramko, Ph.D.
